ON WITH THE SHOW

-

GO on a high-flying journey through jealousy, betrayal, friendship and forgiveness when Hobart College presents the spirited, spunky and sassy Bring It On:

The Musical next week. Inspired by the 2000 Kirsten Dunst movie of the same name, Bring It On follows the acrobatic adventures of Campbell, who is cheerleading royalty at Truman High School and has just been named captain of the squad for her senior year.

But when the state’s school districts are redistributed, Campbell is forced to enrol elsewhere and spend the year at the nearby school of hard knocks, Jackson High.

The deck might be stacked against her, but Campbell manages to befriend the dance crew at her new school and, along with their headstrong leader Danielle, forms a powerhouse squad for the ultimate competition — the upcoming national championships.

Directed by Rowan Harris and with musical direction by Lachlan Court, Bring It

On is Hobart College’s 17th annual school musical.

A cast of 36 students — including Lauren Davidson as Campbell and Marni Edmonds as Danielle — and a 22-member orchestra have been rehearsing since February to bring the production to life, with numerous other students learning exactly what it takes to put on a show by filling roles including catering, ushering, set painting, audio operation and lighting.

Several former students have also returned to work behind the scenes, including Finn Carter (assistant director), Adelaide Touber (co-choreographer), Parker Wisslefield (assistant producer), Jasper Lees (video production), Emilly Ezzy (costume design) and Jack Lark (production manager). Hobart College presents Bring It On: The

Musical at the Mt Nelson Theatre for six shows only from June 1-10, with performances at 7.30pm ThursdaySaturday. Tickets are $25, $20 concession, go to www.bringitonhobart.com.au for bookings.
