- JAMES BRESNEHAN REPORTS,

CRICKET Tasmania’s internal investigation into the leaking of Dan Marsh’s sacking before the then Tigers coach had been informed has been found to be an “accidental release of information”.

Deloittes conducted the investigation after media became aware of Marsh’s termination first, leaving one of Tasmanian cricket’s favour- ite sons shattered. CT chief executive Nick Cummins said the investigation has now been concluded to everyone’s satisfaction, but who accidentally released the information would not be made public.

“There wasn’t a leak so it was really just a process around information management,” Cummins said.

“The definition of a leak is someone knowingly talking to the media about something they shouldn’t, but the conversations that took place people thought they were talking about something that was common knowledge.

“Some people told other people what was going on, but they thought that was already public knowledge.

“Those people were identified.

“I’m not going to identify them except to say those people know it was a mistake and most importantly Dan knows as well.”

Cummins said CT had settled on a financial payout with Marsh, because he still had more than 12 months to run on his contract as head coach.

“He’s fine, [chairman] Andrew Gaggin and I talked to him,” he said. “He doesn’t want it to continue, he’s moved on and he’s satisfied with the explanation [of the leak].”

Meanwhile, Tasmania has missed out on hosting a tour game in the lead-up to this summer’s Ashes series.

Hobart has traditionally hosted a Cricket Australia XIEngland warm-up game in the past because of Tasmania missing out on an Ashes Test.

But CA announced yesterday England will be playing against the CA XI in Adelaide, Townsville, Perth and Sydney, as well as a match against WA at the WACA to start its tour.
