Schools on path to sustainability

- Christopher Bantick is a writer and teacher.

ORDERS close today for the Mercury’s brand new education resource kit exploring the important topic of sustainability.

How much we consume and what we do with the resulting waste is having an impact on the planet, and this is just one of the areas covered in the Sustainability kit.

The in-depth kit will also explore topics including food and animals, energy, mining, water, protected parks, our footprint and more.

The Mercury will also publish a 10-part poster series investigating what challenges we face, what our leaders and governments are doing and what the future may hold.

The kit includes exclusive access for teachers and students to compelling National Geographic Channel documentaries at nationalgeographic.com.au

Participating teachers and home educators will receive a hard copy workbook for both Primary and Secondary levels including 40 activities in each, to help meet curriculum needs in science, ethical capability, geography, economics and business.

Class sets of the Mercury, included in the kit, will ensure students can cut out and keep the poster material.

The Sustainability kit costs $40 and orders should be received by the close of business today.

The classroom newspaper supply will be provided on weekdays from June 26 until July 7.

To order, download an application form from www.mercurynie.com.au, email nie@themercury.com.au or phone Damian Bester on 6230 0736.
