The last weekend
THIS weekend is the last of this financial year and car makers are ramping up discounts to clear the books.
Holden has extended last week’s four-day sale to June 30. The deal adds five-year warranty, five years’ roadside assistance, a “huge” factory bonus (believed to be $500) and three years’ free scheduled servicing.
Its baby Spark is the best value at $14,990 drive-away for the auto, although the Trax compact SUV auto is also good value at $24,990 drive-away.
Suzuki’s Vitara undercuts that price, though, with a $23,990 sticker for the auto. Mitsubishi’s ASX is also good value at $25,990 plus a $1000 Eftpos card.
Honda’s CR-V is $26,490 drive-away and Nissan’s Qashqai is $27,990 drive-away. Toyota and Mazda aren’t doing deals on the C-HR and CX-3.
Hyundai has almost cleared run-out examples of the i30 but you can get still get an Active auto for $21,990 drive-away.
Volkswagen is also in run- out mode with the Golf and the price has dropped to $25,490 drive-away for the auto, with a $2000 factory bonus thrown in. That makes it cheaper than a Ford Focus or Holden Astra.
Kia is still the brand for a red-hot deal on a small car. The Cerato S auto was already incredible value at $19,990 drive-away but Kia has upped the ante by allowing buyers to redeem a $777 gift card if they buy one before June 25.
Hyundai’s best deal is the Tucson mid-size SUV at $28,990 drive-away for an Active auto, while Honda is selling run-out models of its CR-V for $29,990 drive-away. Until June 30, Honda is also matching Hyundai’s five-year warranty and adding roadside assistance for five years.
Ford’s Escape Ambiente auto is $29,990 but with threeyear warranty. If you need a mid-sizer with seven seats, the Mitsubishi Outlander auto is $29,990 with $1000 Eftpos card.
In the next size up, Hyundai has the V6 auto Santa Fe Active X (with leather appointed seats) for $39,990 drive-away, a claimed saving of $6000. For perspective, its main competitors are the Mazda CX-9 starting from about $47,000 and the Toyota Kluger from nearly $49,000. Even the Kia Sorento starts at about $44,500 at the moment.
If you’re feeling nostalgic Ford has 2016-plate Territory diesel autos for $40,990 drive- away with an extended five year/100,000km warranty.
Mitsubishi and Holden have the most attractive deals on utebased off-road seven-seat wagons. Mitsubishi’s Pajero Sport GLX is $47,500 driveaway with a $1500 Eftpos card, while Holden’s Trailblazer LT starts at $45,990 drive-away. From there it’s a big jump to Toyota’s Fortuner at $50,990 drive-away and a long climb to the summit for a Ford Everest at roughly $58,000 drive-away.
