Flames look to light up against Blues

- RENEE GODFREY

KARANA Flames will be out for revenge when they take on Kingston Blues in tonight’s Round 12 Tasmanian Netball League match at Hobart Netball and Sports Centre.

The last time these two teams met, Kingston won by a goal with only seconds to play, and with Kingston sitting second on the ladder and Karana fourth, a win for either team will go a long way to securing a top-two finish.

Karana captain Zanna Jodlowska is looking forward to the match and is confident her team will be able to come away with the win through consistent play and following their game plan.

Jodlowska returned to Tasmania last year to study medicine and joined Karana because of family friend and last year’s coach Lou Carter.

Being new to the club her selection as captain reflects her dedication and attitude towards her netball and teammates.

“I love Karana, it is great how they look after the whole player,” Jodlowska said.

The team has enjoyed working with new coach Alicia Sargent, with Jodlowska saying: “The change has been good, the team has been really receptive to what she’s putting out there. We’ve had a big focus on development and there’s a lot of mature heads for young players.”

Jodlowska’s athletic and determined approach to her game has also seen her catch the eye of the state selectors, having been picked as a member of the Tasmanian Magpies ANL squad. The action starts at 8.05pm. In other matches OHA is still searching for its first win when it takes on Cripps Waratah tonight at Hobart Netball and Sports Centre at 8.05pm. AYC-Friends Arrows travel to the Silverdome tomorrow to take on Cavaliers at 6.15pm and Northern Hawks will be looking to return to the winner’s circle when they travel to Ulverstone to take on Burnie Tigers tomorrow at 1.30pm.
