Firearm folly
FOR starters, I am not a firearm owner. Contrary to popular belief, it is people who kill people. They use firearms, motor vehicles, knives, bare hands, axes, bricks and even cricket bats. These items on their own cannot kill people as they need an outside source, which is usually the “nut” behind the trigger, wheel, handle, etc.
The Government’s amnesty on the back of the recent tragic events in Melbourne should be seen as pure politics. It stated that it is trying to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals. Does it really expect us to believe that criminals will be handing in their firearms and if honest people do not hand them in that they will branded a criminal?
Far more people are killed by people using motor vehicles than firearms. Is the
