Day dreams

- Bill Godfrey Mt Stuart

I DREAMED that the members of federal and state governments spoke to the voters as if they were adults, not rather backward children; that they gave direct answers to direct questions, instead of blame-shifting and longwinded evasions; that they listened to the concerns of ordinary people and took action to deal with them; that decisions were made by discussion and compromise, not factional warfare; and that the interests of voters and our environment were valued above those of rich and powerful lobby groups.

Well, we can all dream, can’t we?

For the record

THE Mercury reported yesterday in the story “Let’s make city a test case, says expert” that Airbnb public policy analyst Huw Phillips said there were 90 Airbnb listings in Hobart. The correct figure is 900.
