Cripps on top with return of Parsons

CRIPPS Waratah has cemented top spot on the Premier League netball ladder with a 45-36 win over AYC.

The Round 13 clash was held on Wednesday night.

The return of Kirra Parsons for Cripps worked beautifull­y, with Parsons dominating at goal shooter and helping her side to a 15-6 lead at quartertim­e.

AYC worked hard in the second quarter to try to close the gap, with Chloe Bennett controllin­g a lot of the play through the centre court.

Forcing Cripps into basic errors, AYC was able to keep in touch to be trailing by 17-23.

Cripps gained the ascendancy in the third quarter with Sophia Saunders and Zoie Crawford instrument­al in controllin­g the game through steady and smart play.

Accurate shooting from Parsons and Kate Patmore helped the team extend its lead back out to 11 heading into the last quarter.

Reagan Davie made her first appearance for the season in the last quarter in goals for AYC and her typically fast hands and creativity helped her side win the final term by two, but it was not enough as Cripps took the win 45 to 36.

Player of the match was Parsons.

Kingston Blues easily accounted for Palena with a 59-33 win, with Georgia Rolls from Kingston awarded player of the match.

Huon defeated Stingas 65-45. Player of the match was Huon’s Simone Reynolds.
