Tigers vow to raise hell in face of Demon fire

- JAMES BRESNEHAN

THE stage is set for a fascinating battle between two sides aspiring to play TSL finals and both believing they are better than the other — welcome to the Hobart City Demons-Tigers smackdown at North Hobart Oval today.

Tigers coach Aaron Vince said last weekend his side was better than Hobart City and the comment did not go unnoticed in the Demons’ camp.

“We know they fancy themselves against us,” Hobart City assistant-coach Trent Baumeler said.

“When Aaron was asked about us at last week’s postmatch press conference and he said they expect to win, that raised some eyebrows within our playing group.

“So we are well aware they are very confident against us and they think they’re better than us and they think they can beat us.”

Vince stood by his belief that the Tigers could do some damage against the Dees, particularly with skipper Tim Peterson back in the team.

“We’d like to think so given we beat them in Round 3,” Vince said.

“We give ourselves every opportunity to win the game.”

To prepare for the match on the tight inner-city oval, the Tigers have focused on the small details.

“We haven’t played a lot of games this year on a smaller oval so we’ve done some work during the week to adjust to that,” Vince said.

“We think we’ve got a very quick side and we’ll add some more experience this week with Peterson coming back after a game in the twos.

“So we give ourselves a 100 per cent chance of winning this game.

“If you want to be considered for finals, these are must-win games. We need to win this one.”
