Tigers to match big dollars for Dusty

- JAMES BRESNEHAN

RICHMOND legend Matthew Richardson believes the Tigers will be able to keep Dustin Martin by matching the megabuck offers expected to flood the superstar’s management post-season and with the promise of playing more finals.

The tattooed Tiger is the hottest property in the AFL as free agency puts his talents on the open market at the end of the season.

After trading Brett Deledio last year, Richo says Tiger fans don’t need to hit the panic button over Dusty.

“It’s going to be between Dustin and his management, and the club,” Richardson said.

“But they have said all along that they want to wait to talk at the end of the year and that’s Dustin’s right — this is the environment we are in now with free agency.

“He wants to play good footy for the rest of the year and just see what’s out there.”

In Hobart to support the Cancer Council of Tasmania, Richardson said Richmond should be able to go dollar-for-dollar to counter offers.

“I’m pretty sure Richmond will be able to get close to any offer any other club provides to him,” Richardson said.

“As far as I’m aware, he’s happy at Richmond and I’d be surprised if he went anywhere else.”
