Whilst not all aldermen and senior management are to blame there are those that seem to have a vested interest of being somewhat obstructionist and wanting everything their way or no way. The result is that the GCC has become dysfunctional to the nth degree and whilst the council members fight amongst themselves and with senior management, the ones that suffer are the ratepayers. — NoelP

Perhaps the CEO can stand for council if the present lot are shown the door? He certainly seems very confused as to his current role. Mayor should not be punished though for the appalling treatment of her both by elected members and management. — Nicholas

Unfortunately I don’t think the State Government has the intestinal fortitude to do what is right. Gutwein and Hodgman are “folding chair” politicians — at the first hint they might have to decide something, they collapse into a useless pile. — Marina

This council has gone from one of the most progressive to one of the most dysfunctional in literally no time at all. The entire council needs to be sacked, senior management need to resign and new elections to be held in due course. Sue Smith in the meantime needs to carry on. — Ben

Let’s not tarnish all the aldermen of Glenorchy with the same brush here. There is a clear few who didn’t want or feel the need for an inquiry into their actions, and these are the aldermen who are holding everything up. When it comes to the next council election it will be obvious who those aldermen are because they will be the ones who won’t be re-elected. — Andrew

This “council” should have been sacked years ago, never seen anything like it — truly disgusted! — Blay
