JUSTIN TIME FOR A LAUGH

-

STOP! It’s Hammo Time, Hobart, with Justin Hamilton set to take the stage at Jokers Comedy Club for the first time next week.

Hammo, as he’s affectionately known, has been at the cutting edge of the Australian comedy scene for almost two decades, after first making a name for himself by touring with Wil Anderson for a number of years.

He has won widespread critical acclaim for his many Melbourne International Comedy Festival solo shows — including his 2007 Director’s Award-winning Three Colours Hammo — and in 2011 began running prestigious and highly respected Melbourne comedy room The Shelf.

Hammo is also well known for his high-rating podcast Can You Take This Photo Please?, which has featured household-name comedians such as Simon Pegg, Marc Maron, Judith Lucy and Tony Martin.

Having previously appeared on TV shows such as The Glass House and The Librarians, Hammo has most recently taken on creative roles at Southern Cross Austereo and ABC TV, working as a writer for the Rove & Sam radio show and the new Dr Who fan program Whovians.

Hammo was a popular recurring visitor to the Hobart Comedy Festival between 2006 and 2012, and still has plenty of fans in the city.

Justin Hamilton makes his debut Jokers Comedy Club appearance at The Polish Corner in New Town from 8pm on Wednesday. He will be joined by local support James G Warren and host Gavin Baskerville.

Tickets are $22 pre-sale from www.jokerscomedy.com.au and Centertainment (phone 6234 5998), or $25 at the door (if not already sold out).
