WHEEL LOVE IS SET TO BLOSSOM

-

Festival of Voices starts to rev up tomorrow night, with the premiere of the Tasmanian Theatre Company’s new production in Hobart. Not your traditional musical,

is an unabashedly romantic, urban Australian love story about a young couple from two different worlds, brought together by fate — and a pizza delivery gone wrong — as they deal with their passion and their problems.

Written by award-winning playwright Aidan Fennessy, and inspired by the songs from Tim Rogers’ solo album of the same name, is sure to soften the hardest of hearts, and reassure anyone who has ever been in love.

Hailed by for “breathing new life into tired boy-meets-girl cliches”,

stars Jesse Dugan and Danni Gilsenan as the star-crossed and class-divided lovers, as director Melissa King pays homage to Rogers’ much-loved 1999 album.

“Aidan has turned Tim’s first solo album into a tender, gutsy, moving, funny, love story,” TTC artistic director Charles Parkinson says.

“It is one of those shows that gets under your skin. It will be a night of whimsy, young love, and great music from a live band.” The Tasmanian Theatre Company presents

at the Salamanca Arts Centre’s Peacock Theatre from tomorrow until July 15, as part of the Festival of Voices.

Tickets are $15-$49, go to www.centertainment.com.au or phone 6234 5998 for bookings.
