On the level

PERHAPS we are building roads the old fashioned way in Tasmania? I suggest the builders of the Midland Highway and Cambridge Rd go for a trip to Queensland to see how to build a road. Laser level with no bumps. I fear the Midland Highway will become a maintenance nightmare very soon.

Who’s the boss?

ANOTHER weak effort from the Hodgman-led Government: David Walsh is now running the state. Building high roller gambling venues. Knowing full well this weak government will roll over and let it happen. Tony Geeves Rosetta

Like father, like son

IF, as written in Today’s Text, ( Mercury, July 6), “the Son is the image of the invisible God”, wouldn’t that mean the Son was invisible also? David Mcbain West Hobart

Works of art

DAVID Walsh and Mona, with a bit of branding, can live with the nearby Glenorchy Sewerage works ( Mercury, July 7). It could easily branded as the external extension of the popular Cloaca artwork which would attract patrons for its contribution to the site in terms of terrior and providence. Evan Evans Lindisfarne

Stark disparity

WOW, six months jail for a paraplegic yet a fully-abled drug and firearms trafficker walks free. So much for the scales of justice. Adrian Burns Howrah

Radical solutions

THANK goodness I don't have a computer. Don't worry about ISIS anymore; there is a bigger problem with computer hackers. The world should be hunting them down and putting a permanent cessation to their actions. Blow the bastards up. Ray Wakefield Claremont

Backing self-interest

RATES, power, anything to do with money is always rising for the common person. It sounds like the politicians’ pay packets will also follow trend. Mark Mifsud Goodwood

Dirty water

IT has just been found that the Derwent River has the highest levels of mercury toxin than any other river in the world. Why? Because of the effluent coming from the toxins discharged by industry on its banks. Why would anyone want their water supply from this river? Peter Aris St Helens
