Thor hammering his opposition

- ADAM SMITH

MISSING his second representative clash in two years stung Thor Boscott but spurred the Lauderdale star to greater heights in the second half of the TSL season.

Boscott was forced to watch Tasmania’s loss to the NEAFL after being suspended the week before for a hit on North Launceston’s Brad CoxGoodyer, 12 months after injury curtailed his hopes of pulling on the “Map” against the WAFL.

He took the suspension on the chin, and is producing some of the best football of his career to keep the club in the hunt for a top three finish.

Boscott kicked a careerhigh nine goals in the victory over Tigers on Saturday, keeping Lauderdale level with Glenorchy in third spot with an inferior percentage.

After recovering from a 0-3 start to the year, Boscott has no doubt the side deserves to be in premiership contention.

It has won eight of its last nine — with the only loss to Clarence in a match Boscott missed after having to serve a week in the State League.

“Everything is jelling at the moment as a team, it wasn’t really panic stations at the start of the year, but we are doing a lot better than we were, that’s for sure,” Boscott said. “We just identified a couple of things we needed to fix and it is clicking now. Absolutely (Lauderdale can be a flag contender), we definitely have the personnel to do it.” THERE was only one suspension handed down by the MRP from the weekend’s action, with Glenorchy’s Matthew Joseph accepting a one-match ban for making high contact against Clarence’s Keegan Wylie.
