Chance to broaden your horizons

-

GO on an extraordinary globetrotting adventure without leaving the comfort of your theatre seat when the Jules Verne classic Around the World in 80 Days comes to the Hobart stage next week.

Full of raging typhoons, runaway trains, stampeding elephants, daring deeds and daft Victorian inventions, Around the World in 80 Days follows fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg and his faithful manservant Passepartout as they set out to win an outrageous bet — by circling the globe in just 80 days.

Based on the much-loved 1873 novel by French author Jules Verne, this madcap Around the World in 80 Days adaptation by Toby Hulse features just three talented actors — Wayne Scott Kermond, Sharon Millerchip and former Stingers and Sea Patrol TV star Ian Stenlake — playing a total of 39 characters.

Danger, romance and comic surprises abound in the show, as the spirit of theatrical imagination combines with the great age of industrial invention to produce a piece of theatre that will have audiences in stitches as they traverse seven continents on one of the great adventures of all time.

Perfect for adults, families and children over seven years, Ellis Productions present Around the World in 80 Days at the Theatre Royal from 7.30pm next Friday and Saturday (August 18 and 19).

Tickets are $30-$65, go to www.theatreroyal.com.au or phone 6233 2299 for bookings.
