Hughes who in comedy world

-

STEVE Hughes once played heavy metal music, but these days you’re more likely to find him telling hardhitting jokes.

The UK-based former drummer — who belted the skins for Australian extreme metal bands such as Slaughter Lord, Mortal Sin and Nazxul before turning his attention to comedy — has been burning up the international comedy circuit for more than a decade, and he’s set to bring his show to Hobart next week.

Hughes tells it like it is — he is confronting, alarming and always hilarious.

He has toured throughout Europe, Australia, North America and New Zealand to rave reviews.

After storming stages at prestigious invite-only festivals and selling out his solo tours worldwide, Hughes returned to Australia in 2014 with a new show, While It’s Still Legal, which proved a smash hit.

Most recently, he wrote and performed his most personable and intimate show yet, Nervous Breakthrough. He is currently working on new material and a feature-length animated film.

Steve Hughes headlines the August edition of The Clubhouse upstairs at the Republic Bar in North Hobart from 7.30pm on August 17.

Hughes will be joined by host Tim Logan and other local supports. Tickets are $20 (plus booking fee) pre-sale from

www.moshtix.com.au, or $25 at the door.
