FALLS LINE-UP

- P8-9

FLUME, Fleet Foxes and Foster The People headline the first bunch of acts announced for this summer’s Falls Festival at Marion Bay — along with the voice of Britpop legend Oasis, Liam Gallagher.

Playing his first ever Australian headline shows, Gallagher will perform tracks from his debut solo album As You Were alongside songs from an Oasis back-catalogue that contains classics like (What’s The Story) Morning Glory, Roll With It and singalong favourite Wonderwall.

The international contingent headed to Marion Bay also includes chart-topping US hip-hop duo Run The Jewels (El-P and Killer Mike), Brighton guitar-pop group The Kooks, Mercury Prize-nominated Oxford band Glass Animals, Californian rave-rapper Vince Staples, London soul and funk outfit Jungle, Virginia rapper D.R.A.M, Manchester rock band Everything Everything, Detroit indie-pop act Flint Eastwood, and London rapper Dave.

Other Australian acts announced yesterday include California-based DJ Anna Lunoe, Peking Duk, Angus & Julia Stone, Dune Rats, The Smith Street Band, Allday, The Jungle Giants, Thundamentals, Methyl Ethel, Slumberjack, D.D Dumbo, DZ Deathrays, Confidence Man, Julia Jacklin, Bad//Dreems, Cosmo’s Midnight, Winston Surfshirt, Alex Lahey, Camp Cope, Ecca Vandal and Total Giovanni.

Former Sherbert frontman and ’70s superstar Daryl Braithwaite is the bolter on this year’s line-up, with his Aussie classic The Horses sure to spark a massive crowd sing- along. Tasmanian melodic punk band Luca Brasi are also bound to be popular with the Marion Bay crowd, having established themselves as one of Australia’s most in-demand acts thanks to the success of their top-20 album If This Is All We’re Going To Be and singles like Anything Near Conviction, The Cascade Blues and Got To Give.

Many more acts, including comedians, Tasmanian groups and the annual Falls Foster Band winners, will be announced in coming months.

Patrons will also be pleased to hear that drink tokens will no longer be required for the festival’s bars, which will now accept cash and EFTPOS.

The Marion Bay event will run from December 29-January 1.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Tuesday, August 29. Go to www.fallsfestival.com for details.
