Next stop Switzerland as McCarthy misses cut
TASMANIAN professional Ryan McCarthy missed the cut last weekend at the European, Asian and PGA Tour of Australasia tri-sanctioned event, the Fiji International.
South Australian Jason Norris won the $1.5 million event with rounds of 69, 68, 70 and 67, for a 14-under 274.
McCarthy’s next event on the European Challenge Tour will be the $370,000 Rolex Trophy at the world-class Golf Club de Genève in Switzerland. He has slipped to 103rd place with 11,014 points on the European Challenge Tour standings. The top 15 players at the end of the Challenge Tour season will graduate to the European Tour. TASMANIAN juniors Ryan Thomas, Dylan Backhouse, Hallie Meaburn and Mackenzie Wilson have been chosen to represent the state at the Victorian Junior Championship at the Yarra Yarra Golf Club from September 25-28.
The prestigious Victorian Junior Championship is a 72hole world and national ranking event for boys and girls. THE Golf Tasmania board and coaching panel would like to congratulate the athletes who have successfully applied to the Golf Tasmania Home High Performance Squad program 2017-18.
The program aims to provide greater opportunities for developing players to access resources generally only available within elite player programs.
The program will provide a pathway for players to potentially progress through to state team selection, national high performance squad membership and national team selection.
