GET down to Funky Town and celebrate major milestones for two of Australia’s most-loved ’80s and ’90s bands when 1927 and Pseudo Echo tour Tasmania together this weekend. The two groups have embarked on the Celebration

Tour of Australia to mark 27 years since the release of 1927’s multi-platinum debut album ...ish and 30 years since Pseudo Echo’s hit Funky Town ruled the radio waves.

Led by frontman Eric Weideman, 1927 formed in 1987 and went on dominate the charts with songs such as That’s When I Think Of You, If I Could, Compulsory Hero and Tell Me A Story — all of which featured on ...ish, which became the highest-selling debut release by an Australian artist and won two ARIA Awards.

Pseudo Echo were one of the most popular and influential Australian bands of the 1980s, influencing the next generation of musicians with their synthesised rhythms and dance beats.

Their 1984 debut album Autumnal Park featured the hit singles Listening and A Beat For You. But the band’s 1985 follow-up Love an Adventure spawned the singles Don’t Go, Living in a Dream and the classic Funky Town, which held the No.1 spot in Australia for a record 12 weeks and reached No.6 in the US and No.8 in the UK.

Step back in time when 1927 and Pseudo Echo play at Wrest Point from 8pm tomorrow; and at Country Club Tasmania in Launceston from 8pm on Saturday.

Tickets are $65.50, go to www.tixtas.com.au or phone 1300 795 257 for bookings.
