Dominant Sally pockets another $63k

- SCOTT GULLAN

SALLY Pearson’s fairytale comeback continued yesterday when the world champion won the Diamond League final in Zurich.

It has been a profitable fortnight for the Australian.

Pearson has now pocketed almost $140,000 in prizemoney by winning the 100m hurdles world title in London and following it up with success in the season finale.

The 30-year-old, who fought back from two years out of the sport to win her second world title this month, won just over $63,000 for claiming the Diamond League crown.

It was only thanks to a well-timed dip on the line that Pearson got the cash.

She held off a late surge from American Sharika Nelvis to win by a thousandth of a second — 12.542 to 12.543.

Pearson tweeted her excitement after the victory.

“We got it done!!! Winner winner ... nice to finish on top!”, she wrote.

America’s Dawn Harper Nelson, the silver medallist in London, finished down the track in sixth.

Pearson, the 2012 Olympic champion, won $76,000 for winning the world title. She is now heading home after deciding to cut short her European racing season because the family dog is ill and needs surgery.

It was a good night for three other Australians in Zurich. Javelin thrower Kelsey Lee-Roberts finished second to Czech world champion Barbora Spotakova with a career-best 64.53m.

Pole vaulter Kurtis Marschall backed up his seventh place at the world championships by equalling his personal best of 5.73m to finish in fourth place.

Long-jumper Fabrice Lapierre finished fifth with a best leap of 7.94m.

In other events in Zurich, Britain’s Mo Farah finished his track career on a positive note by winning the 5000m.

Farah had been surprisingly beaten in the 5000m in London, breaking a domination at major championships that stretched back to 2011.
