Rivals say Richter’s the man for the job

- JAMES BRESNEHAN

COACH and club general manager Kane Richter has impressed people on both sides of politics at the Hobart City Demons, or should that be North Hobart Football Club.

With the board of Hobart City still under siege from the Bring North Hobart Home group, the two sides have one thing in common — they love Richter.

A meeting will be held next month to decide the new make-up of the club’s board and Craig Martin, head of Bring North Hobart Home, says whatever the new administration looks like, Richter is the man to lead the club into the future.

“Under a new administration — if that were to occur — Kane would definitely stay on as senior coach, head of the footy program and general manager,” Martin said.

An assessment of the Hobart City football program, conducted by Martin, found Richter’s work to be “excellent”.

“Kane is an outstanding leader who has done an exceptional job as coach and as leader of the footy program,” Martin said.

“Kane is one of the most impressive leaders I’ve seen. He is critical to the success of the footy club . . . and he must be given the opportunity to continue and finish the great work he’s started.”

The vote on whether to retain the Hobart City identity of return to the traditional North Hobart name will happen by post and email over two weeks late next month.

“If people want North Hobart to return and the club to play in its beautiful, traditional red and blue jumper in 2018 they need to become a member of the Hobart City Demons so they can vote in September. They can join up to be a member via the footy club website,” Martin said.
