Mixing it with the best of them

SCORCHING hot Sydney producer LDR U is bringing the sizzling sounds of his new mix-tape to Hobart tonight.

LD R U (aka Drew Carmody, who is also one half of electro duo Carmada) first introduced his trademark “trapical” beats via his 2013 debut single The Tropics, which caught the attention of big-name artists including Skrillex, A-Track, Diplo and What So Not.

His follow-up single, 2015’s Keeping Score (featuring Paige IV), was a double-platinum top-15 hit on the ARIA charts. Voted in at No.22 on Triple J’s Hottest 100, Keeping Score scored LD R U three nominations at the ARIA Awards (for Song of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, and Best Dance Release).

Subsequent singles Next To You and To Be Free also both proved popular with fans, as LD R U took his live show to leading Australian festivals such as Splendour In The Grass, Falls, Listen Out, Future Music, Field Day and the Big Day Out.

In July LD R U released his debut mix-tape, Sizzlar, which features Keeping Score, Next To You and To Be Free alongside six new tracks, including LD R U’s new single Me, featuring Sydney artist BOI.

To launch Sizzlar, LDRU set off this month on his Sausage Sizzlar national tour, joined by Tasmanian producer Akouo and Canberra DJ Amastro. The tour makes it to Hobart tonight, for a show at the Odeon Theatre from 7pm. Tickets are $59.95, for bookings go to www.oztix.com.au
