Crooners set to sparkle

-

TUNEFUL trio Croon have turned up the glitz and glamour for their spectacular new show Hollywood to Broadway, which opens in Hobart tomorrow night.

Featuring more swooning, more crooning and more dancing than ever before, Hollywood to

Broadway will see singers Andrew Colrain, Colin Dean and John X

transport audiences from the humble streets of Hobart to the bright lights of Hollywood, via Las Vegas and Broadway.

Hollywood to Broadway takes the Croon stage show to another level, with Colrain, Dean and X backed by Matthew Ives and his Big Band and flanked by Croon’s new six-piece dance troupe, the Croonettes.

Choreographed by Mandy Lowrie, the versatile Croonettes — Claire Gough, Kirsty Anderton, Ali White, Danielle Lipscombe, Sarah Morrison and Laura Brown — perform in a total of 16 numbers, showcasing several different dance styles.

“The girls are amazingly talented, with so many styles of dance to perform, including jazz, tap, soft-shoe, contemporary, lyrical and more,” X says.

“They have an huge array of costumes, with a dozen changes throughout the show, and they look out of this world.

“You’ve got three ageing and balding matinee idols on stage who need to do all we can to look good — and these girls certainly do that!”

Also featuring special guests including Di Richards and Nicole Farrow, Croon presents Hollywood to Broadway at the Theatre Royal from 8pm tomorrow, and 2pm and 8pm on Saturday. Tickets are $50-$70, for bookings phone 6233 2299 or go to www.theatreroyal.com.au
