Thor looks short-term

- JAMES BRESNEHAN

MIGHTY Thor Boscott does not want to think about his AFL hopes while Lauderdale remains in the fight for a TSL flag.

And after the Bombers’ 94-point belting at the hands of North Launceston in the second-semi at UTas Stadium last Saturday, Boscott has plenty to think about.

Named in the TSL’s Team of the Year this week along with teammates John McGuinness, Dylan Fyfe, Nat Franklin and coach Darren Winter, the 22-year-old forward-cum-onballer is not giving a thought to the AFL, even though there has been interest from several clubs.

“It’s not in my focus at the moment,” he said. “If there’s an opportunity, I’ll definitely take it, but at the moment I’m focused on Launceston this weekend and hopefully we get another shot at North Launceston in the grand final.”

The best part of playing at Lauderdale is being surrounded by mates. It would be sweet to celebrate a premiership with them.

“Playing in a grand final is every kid’s dream,” Boscott said.

“It’s certainly one of mine, especially to do it with a lot of my mates. There are 12 of us who went to school together, so it would mean a lot to me personally and a lot to the club and community as well.”

The fail against North Launceston gave the Bombers plenty to work on.

“Credit to North Launceston — they played a great brand of football and were great on the day,” he said.

“They exploited us in a couple of areas that we can work on.

“We have taken some positives out of it so we can build on that for this week against Launceston, which is a very good quality side. But we are confident we can turn it around.”
