A selfless attitude driving Crows on
LUKE Brown says a team-first attitude is propelling Adelaide to premiership glory.
While the Crows are littered with superstars, back pocket Brown says their success has been built on selflessness and an all-in attitude.
“It’s a real team effort, we don’t rely on individuals here,’’ Brown said as the club prepares for its first AFL Grand Final since 1998.
“That’s why we have been successful this year, because everyone contributes each week.’’
Brown, who has been at the club for six years and has taken over the kick-in duties in the finals after the seasonending knee injury to defensive sidekick Brodie Smith, said the players’ selfless attitude was built from the tragic loss of former coach Phil Walsh, who was killed midway through his first season in charge in 2015.
“That’s when it started,” Brown said. “The loss of Phil really defined us as a group and brought us all closer together because we spent a lot of time together at that point. Since then the relationships that have been built among the players have been amazing.
“And in each area of the ground our players are really tightly knit and will do anything for each other.
“We’ve just got a real teamfirst attitude and everyone has bought into that. We don’t want selfish players.’’
