Ban group think

IT’S right to say Hobart Lord Mayor Sue Hickey should not take the law into her own hands and unfurl the rainbow flag over Hobart City Council chambers. The same-sex marriage “yes or no” vote is a personal, without bias, vote. The same-sex marriage vote is a neutral national taxpayers’ vote which should not be hijacked by any one person or by any enthusiastically hyped up parties or groups.

Our city and its administrators must always uphold a watertight standard of integrity and fairness. I see the marriage equality or same-sex marriage postal vote as one for all individual Australians to partake in fairly. Council committees, businesses, clubs, executive bodies, groups and parties should not be allowed to formally promote or possibly hijack this marriage vote. Placing a “vote yes” on our football arena or any sport pavilion is not letting people have their individual say.

Still got the Blues

HE’s not too Dusty is he? The big three awards (Brownlow, Grand Final medal and the Norm Smith Medal) plus other awards. Where can Carlton get a few like him?

Drugs and pokies

DRUGS turn nice people into drop kicks. Pokies turn nice people into drop kicks. Nice.

Adding it up

I HAVE a question for Racing Minister Jeremy Rockliff about the fact TasRacing has posted a profit after so many losses ( Mercury, September 27). How much of this result includes unclaimed dividends?
