Crows want Zorko for Cameron

-

ADELAIDE continues to reject realistic trade deals for Charlie Cameron and has instead demanded Lions star Dayne Zorko in exchange for the homesick rookie.

Crows list manager Justin Reid continues to butt heads with Cameron’s management, saying the grand finalists need an established player if they are to release him.

The Lions have already offered pick 20 as fair compensation, but Adelaide is refusing to listen to deals that involve picks. Cameron will walk to Brisbane in the preseason draft at the end of next year if Adelaide holds him to the last season of his contract.

The Zorko request is ridiculous given he just won his third best-and-fairest in a row at the Lions.

But it underlines the nature of Reid’s demands after losing Jake Lever to Melbourne and missing out on free agent Steven Motlop.

It seems certain the Lions will have to wait another year for Cameron.

Adelaide and Carlton continue to work behind the scenes on a deal for veteran Blue Bryce Gibbs, which would be a circuit-breaker for Cameron to get to the Lions.

Meanwhile, Brisbane says any interest the Western Bulldogs had in 200cm forward Josh Schache has cooled. The Dogs had inquired about what it might take to secure him and could have used a pick from Essendon if they accepted picks 25 and 30 for Jake Stringer.

They have told the Lions they won’t be trading for him.
