Vibes in the vineyard
THREE leading Tasmanian roots acts will plant themselves at a vineyard in the state’s northeast on Saturday.
In conjunction with the North East Rivers Festival, Delamere Vineyard is hosting the Delamere Music Fest on Saturday afternoon, featuring live performances from Halfway to Forth, Thieves and Claire Ann Taylor.
Halfway to Forth — North-West brothers Dan and Kyle Lizotte — are quickly earning a national reputation for their unique brand of earthy, homegrown music characterised by tight vocal harmonies, foot stompin’ banjo and bottle neck slide guitar grooves.
Launceston five-piece alt-folk band Thieves — Mary Shannon (guitar), Elliot Courtnage (guitar), Denni Sulzberger (guitar, cello), James Matuszek (drums) and Chris Skerratt (bass) — mix classical cello lines with raw punk energy in their genre-hopping sound.
Acclaimed Tasmanian singersongwriter Claire Anne Taylor combines vivid storytelling and colossal vocals to craft soulful folk songs that capture both the beautiful and dark elements of the human experience — as found on her debut album Elemental.
The Delamere Music Fest will be held at Delamere Vineyard in Pipers Brook from noon-5pm Saturday. Tickets are $25, with return transport from Launceston also available for $15. For more information and bookings, phone 63827190 or go to delamerevineyards.com.au
