Open airbridge
ON the subject of airbridges (Letters, October 18), the Royal Hobart Hospital bridge across Argyle St is only open during business hours, Monday to Friday. It seems this is because there is currently no way of isolating access to the Wellington Clinics building when they are closed, yet the carpark is open until 10pm seven days a week.
The airbridge is an ideal wheelchair accessible way of getting patients in and out of the hospital and into cars without having to worry about weather, traffic or parking issues around the hospital campus. It is a real shame the Wellington Centre access was not designed to allow use of the airbridge after hours. duced right here in Oz. Cause for celebration on many levels. Happy “fizzy” birthday Wizz Fizz.
Broadband just right
THERE have been many complaints about the National Broadband Network. I have no complaints. The service is always at the speed I chose, 25 MBS, and there have been no dropouts. But I am lucky because I am in Kingston and got fibre-tothe-premises and I use a reliable service provider, iiNet. I suspect most of the problems have been caused by the present government, which decided to roll out the infinitely inferior fibre-to-the-node. As a result most users in other areas of Australia have significantly poorer service relying on out-of-date and unreliable copper wire. Don’t blame the NBN or good service providers, when the problem has been caused by a technology ignorant and penny-pinching government. sons of the opposite sex as defined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Marriage has been a husband/ wife social institution for thousands of years across all cultures for good reason. Men and women are different; they parent differently and, when in a loving, committed lifelong relationship, provide the best environment for raising the next generation. Same-sex and opposite-sex relationships are different. By voting No to redefining marriage people are voting Yes to diversity.
