Explore the weather with our new kit

HOW’S the weather?

Nearly everyone is fascinated by the weather. It dictates how and where we live, influences our activities and dominates our conversations.

Sometimes, the more extreme weather events have an enormous impact on our lives.

Understanding weather is the focus of the Mercury’s final education resource kit for 2017: How’s the Weather?

Through this resource the Mercury will inform students about weather systems, forecasting and why it’s important, Australia’s weather patterns, extreme weather events and climate change.

This mini-kit will provide teachers and home educators with a ready-to-go resource to introduce this fascinating topic into your classroom while meeting core curriculum needs in humanities and geography.

The resource is ideal for use in the final weeks of term as the weather warms up, or for setting aside for future use.

Participating teachers will receive workbooks for primary and secondary levels that include 15 activities each.

Included in the kit are class sets of the Mercury across five days from November 27 to December 1, containing poster material supporting the kit’s key themes that teachers can use, cut out and display in the classroom.

Priced at just $20, the kit of- fers 15 primary activity worksheets suited to Year 3-6 students, and 15 secondary worksheets for Year 7-10 students, plus curriculum links and classroom newspapers.
