Nadal fit­ness doubt

RAFAEL Nadal is rac­ing the clock to be fit for the Aus­tralian Open af­ter aban­don­ing the ATP Fi­nals with a knee in­jury. The ten­nis world No.1 with­drew from the sea­son-end­ing show­piece af­ter a painful 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (4-7), 6-4 firstup loss to Bel­gian Davis Cup hero David Gof­fin in Lon­don. Nadal had al­ready been in doubt for the event af­ter pulling out of last week’s Paris Mas­ters and first com­plain­ing of the in­jury af­ter his Shang­hai Mas­ters fi­nals loss to Roger Fed­erer a month ago.
