Brighton shows it belongs with second victory

BRIGHTON scored its second win since its promotion to the Bowls Tasmania South Premier Division season when it defeated Beltana by 24 shots on Saturday.

With Mick Koy turning in an outstandin­g performanc­e in the lead position, Greg Fehlberg registered an easy 24-shot win over Mick Coppleman.

Fehlberg won 10 of the first 11 ends to jump out to a 16-shot lead and help set up a great Brighton victory. Grant Wakefield continued his good form with a six-shot win over Shane Young.

David Cure was in control over Owen O’Driscoll but Cure dropped seven shots on the 23rd end to allow O’Driscoll to draw the game.

Nick Courto was Beltana’s only winner defeating Mick Daniels by six shots.

In a nailbiting finish at Sandy Bay, a depleted Rosny Park lost its first game of the season when it was beaten by Sandy Bay by two shots.

Brad Mabb defeated Darren Monks by nine shots, Josh Mabb beat Michael Eiszele by eight shots and Andrew Norris finished seven shots in front of Paul Williamson.

Mick Sweeney almost got Rosny Park over the line with his 22-shot win over David Douce.

In a split-rinks result, Buckingham was simply too good on its synthetic green for Derwent City, notching up a 31shot victory.

With his front end of Amity Booth and Chris White playing extremely well, Michael Taylor easily beat Rod Turner by 34 shots with Turner only able to pick up a single shot on four of the 25 ends.

Keghan Booth came from six shots down after 10 ends to defeat Ricky Maughan by nine shots.

Derwent City won on the other two rinks. Grant Dudman gradually got on top of Stuart Rees winning by 11 shots.

Peter Bannister defeated Alvin Cooke by one shot.

Kingboroug­h easily beat an undermanne­d Claremont by 54 shots.

Tony Clark defeated Jack Ellis by 23 shots, Ben Dayton beat Tony Hack by 16 shots, Jason Fowler finished eight shots in front of John Howard and Taelyn Male beat Alan Smith by seven shots. Glenorchy Rodman jumped to the top of the ladder with a solid 14-shot away win over New Norfolk.

Josh Baker accounted for Wayne Clarke by 14 shots, Luke Turner defeated Kerry Hill by six shots and Tony Vince defeated Mitch Banks by five shots.

New Norfolk picked up two pennant points when Barry Bone beat Cam Tegg by 11 shots.
