Fanning the flames
FORMER Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning will finish his latest Australian solo tour with a sold-out show in Hobart next week.
Fanning found fame as the singer for much-loved Brisbane band Powderfinger, who had hits with tracks such as My Happiness, (Baby I’ve Got
You) On My Mind, Lost and Running and These Days, before breaking up in 2010. Fanning has enjoyed a successful solo career since a 2005 Powderfinger hiatus, when he released the charttopping album Tea & Sympathy — featuring the hit single Songbird and the Hottest 100-winning Wish You Well.
In May this year Fanning released his fourth solo record, Brutal Dawn, a “companion album” to last year’s ARIA
Award-winning Civil Dusk.
For tomorrow night’s final show of the 10-date Brutal
Dawn national tour at the Granada Tavern in Berriedale, Fanning and his band The Black Fins — Salliana Campbell (fiddle), Matt EEngelbrecht (bass), Andrew Morris (guitar) and Declan KellyK (drums) — will be supported by Tasmanian rising star Maddy Jane.
Maddy Jane’s career has gone to another level this year, and she will cap off a huge 2017 by supporting former One Direction star Harry Styles at shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland next week.
Tickets to tomorrow night’s Granada gig have sold out.
