Time to focus on the future

MORE than 5000 students will wrap up their Year 12 education this month — and the

wants to help celebrate all their accomplish­ments.

An 80-page celebratio­n of the state’s Year 12 students, titled will be published in tomorrow’s newspaper. It includes photos by photograph­ers of students from more than 50 campuses around Tasmania, including Catholic, private and public schools, that finished exams last week.

Some of the southern schools include Guilford Young College, Hutchins, Friends, Fahan, Hobart College, Elizabeth College, St Mary’s College, St Michael’s Collegiate and Rosny College.

From the North there are Don College, Launceston Church Grammar, Scotch Oakburn College, Newstead College, St Patrick’s College and Launceston College.

And there will be more schools next year, with the State Government set to extend another eight high schools to Years 11 and 12 in 2018 — bringing the total to 38 expansion schools across the state.

For now, the current graduating cohort are eagerly awaiting their senior secondary results.

Students who have registered will receive their results via email on December 19 while hard copy results and certificat­es will be mailed on December 19. If they secure a suitable Australian Tertiary Admission Rank, students will receive their first round of University of Tasmania offers by December 23, with interstate applicants to receive offers in January. The deadline for acceptance is January 22, with Semester 1 starting on February 26.
