PRINCESS Mary and her family are coming home for Christmas.

The Danish royal family last night confirmed Princess Mary and Prince Frederik and their children will celebrate Christmas in Australia with the family of the former Tasmanian.

DENMARK’S Crown Princess Mary and her family are set to visit Tasmania this Christmas.

The Danish royal family confirmed last night that the Hobart-born princess, husband Crown Prince Frederik, and the couple’s four children will celebrate the festive season with Mary’s family.

“The Crown Prince couple travel together with their four children, TRH Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, to Australia and celebrate Christmas with the family of HRH The Crown Princess,” the Royal Family said in a statement.

Princess Mary visited Australia in 2015 with her family and in 2013 with Prince Frederik, but bypassed her home state on both occasions.

The royal couple last brought their four children to their mother’s home in 2011.

There had been mounting speculation that the royal family would visit Australia over the summer.

The royals have previously stayed with family, but rented a luxury West Hobart home for their last visit.

Royal watchers will be keen to catch a glimpse of the Taroona-raised princess, who frequented Salamanca and Sandy Bay’s beaches on past visits.

The prince and princess have also previously enjoyed a private tour of Mona and have regularly stayed at a family holiday house on the East Coast.

Princess Mary — formerly Mary Donaldson — married Prince Frederik in 2004.
