Support refreshing approach

FLOATING HOTEL

- Wayne McDonald Taroona Raymond Harvey Claremont Bill Godfrey New Town John Aitchison Glenorchy

WHETHER or not architect Robert Morris-Nunn’s proposal to build a floating hotel on the Derwent is successful or not, his approach is refreshingly welcome. It is interactive and informative. He invites suggestions and collaboration, rather than saying too bad. The community will have to get used to it (Talking Point, December 4). He states: “We are not proposing this project in order to be the first, but rather because it is a unique answer to providing quality hotel accommodation that does not destroy the existing urban fabric of our city”. It is a vision to support and celebrate. like and see as much surreal coastline as one wishes and enjoy a multi-star floating hotel ambience. Instead of cooking up such weird, wonderful and wacky ideas, we must reflect and say “at the end of the day these day dream notions already exist in one form or another.” There are so many other multimillion-dollar innovative corporate projects one could brainstorm about and develop in Hobart. Whatever you do, don’t squander Tasmanians’ hard-earned, indispensable taxpayers’ dollars.
