Nepal Idol, with the stars of the program’s inaugural season set to perform in Hobart this weekend.

Hobart is home to ever-growing Nepali and Bhutanese population­s, and up to 600 people are expected to be in the crowd on Saturday night when Nepal Idol series one winner Buddha Lama, runner-up Nishan Bhattari and third-placed Pratap Das take to the stage. The concert is part of a month-long

Nepal Idol Australian tour, which also includes performanc­es in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin.

The tour comes on the back of the hugely successful inaugural season of

Nepal Idol, which saw hundreds of contestant­s audition in Nepalgunj, Butwal, Narayangar­h, Birgunj, Biratnagar, Pokhara and Kathmandu.

Buddha Lama, who hails from Pokhara, was crowned the winner in September, after organisers say more than 93,000,000 votes were cast for the grand finale. Hosted by Sushil Nepal, the Nepal

Idol 2017 Tasmania concert will be held at The Friends’ School’s Farrall Centre in Argyle Street, North Hobart, from 6.30pm on Saturday.
