Giant step for fantastic four

-

FOUR talented Hobart dancers will perform one final home-town show this weekend before uploading themselves to the glittering Gold Coast strip.

After surviving a competitive nationwide audition process, Joshua Williams, Maggie Rogers, Laura Spence and Sabine Crompton-Ward are heading to Queensland next month to develop their craft at leading Australian training organisation Dance Force.

Thanks to their hard work with Glenorchy studio Jenina’s Dance Workshop, Joshua, Maggie, Laura and Sabine have each received scholarships to attend Dance Force, where they will be able to improve their skills, audition for agencies and, hopefully, launch a professional career in dance or choreography.

But before they leave town, the quartet have one final Hobart commitment — performing in Jenina’s Dance Workshop’s end-of-year concert, Generation Upload.

A comment on the potential perils of social media, Generation Upload follows a young girl who is sucked into her computer and sets out to discover what life is like without the need to constantly check your Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Starring JDW dancers ranging from tiny tots through to advanced senior students,

Generation Upload features a variety of dance styles, including jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop and tap. Jenina’s Dance Workshop presents

Generation Upload at the Mt Nelson Theatre (Hobart College) from 7pm tomorrow, and 1pm and 7pm (already sold out) on Saturday.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for children under 15, available from www.trybooking.com
