Growers’ fruitful union
THE new Tasmanian seasonal produce guide is aimed at taking locals and visitors on a journey of sourcing some of the freshest fruit directly from the grower.
Fruit Growers Tasmania business development manager Phil Pyke, who launched the guide in partnership with Eat Well Tasmania president Melanie Blackhall, said the guide was a unique opportunity to own the fresh food space and help consumers enjoy seasonal fruit every day.
“The guide is a journey of discovering our great produce. Also, preventive health is driving demand at a domestic level for fruit and vegetables,” Mr Pyke said.
“Health doesn’t come in a vitamin bottle. A healthy serve of fruit and vegetables provides more nutrients than pills out of a bottle.”
Mrs Blackhall said it was an exciting venture partnering with FGT. “This beautiful guide is strategically how Eat Well communicates its message with a collective voice,” she said.
Eat Well state manager Leah Galvin said the provenance of food was a massive movement.
“It’s about enjoyment of food. We are bridging the gap of consumer connecting to locally grown food,” she said.
The seasonal guide will be distributed to tourist spots including airports and the Spirits of Tasmania.
