Voting first

- Scott Walsh Montrose

CHANGE to policy which has siphoned vast wealth from the poor to the big end of town for decades is essential. I may vote Labor for the first time since Gough in 1972. I will vote Labor if they also promise to stop subsidising the destruction of our forests (basket case forestry; does calling it “sustainable” make anyone feel better?)

I can gamble anywhere

IF I want to gamble, I could choose to do it at the newsagents, Tote, casino and Keno and the amount of online providers for pokies is unbelievable. I could choose to gamble there if pokies are forced out of clubs by a Labor government. But could the thousands of people who lose their jobs just wake up one morning and decide to go and start another job somewhere else? I think not.

Back the shows

MICHAEL Bailey and the TCCI are so out of touch I wonder which planet they are on. Michael did you ever have the joy of opening a show bag, a dagwood dog, fairy floss or a ride on the gee whizzer? Instead of crying for more retail spending time, think of the benefits of these shows. Why doesn’t the TCCI become a sponsor of the Devonport and Launceston shows, step in with some marketing and sales expertise to use the shows as a promotional vehicle A new way to have your say themercury.com.au readers have a new way to have their say.
