You better act quickly to join Falls crowd

- ALEX LUTTRELL

FALLS Festival organisers are on track to sell out pre-sale tickets for the first time in six years, with the remaining passes set to be swept up in the next 24 hours.

Last year the festival sold out after gate sales, but the last time all tickets to the Marion Bay festival were sold out during pre-sale was in 2011-12.

The event starts tomorrow, with crowd capacity capped at 16,000 people.

Last week, three-day tickets were sold out with 11,000 purchased. As of last night, 700 two-day tickets still remained.

A Falls Festival spokeswoman said the number of tickets sold during pre-sale was amazing. “We are expecting a sellout, the tickets are moving quite quickly,” she said.

“We want to get the message out there that there may be no three-day tickets left but there are still two-day tickets. We expect we’ll sell out in the next day.”

Saturday and Sunday contains the bulk of main programming with Flume, Run the Jewels, Angus and Julia Stone, the Smith Street Band, Fleet Foxes, the Kooks, Peking Duk and Liam Gallagher hitting the stage.

Preparations are in full swing for Hobart friends Ish Atkinson, Sam Huxley, Edward Cox and Maddy Bedding, who just picked up their two-day passes.

Ms Atkinson has attended the event six times and is looking forward to seeing Run the Jewels and Vince Staples.

“I just love the vibe down there, it’s nice to be around all your friends,” she said.

The forecast is for a top of 24C tomorrow, 20C on Saturday and 24C on Sunday.
