Party animal Premier rocks on

MUSIC has to play second fiddle to politics for now, but Premier Will Hodgman says he will never be too old to rock ’n’ roll and could get back into playing gigs when his career in the political sphere is over. just amazing with cafes, restaurant­s and pubs doing great trade on the Friday and Saturday nights. All events were oversubscr­ibed and with Mofo moving here permanentl­y in 2019 long may it continue.

Mr Hodgman took to the Mofo stage in Launceston on Sunday as the Violent Femmes performed to an appreciati­ve crowd.

“I was a guitarist in a band called Cactus back in the 1990s. I have messed around in bands and music for years and years,” he said yesterday David Walsh several times around the city and he was mixing with the crowd asking people what they liked to get a feel for how the event was being received.”

The tourism group plans to encourage more eateries to — still on a high from his first live performanc­e in many years.

“I have played guitar for years and have been hassling Brian Ritchie to jam with the band. I can now tick that one off the bucket list.

“I had a blast. I was very nervous — petrified in fact. I open their doors next year after criticism that very few cafes were open at the weekend despite the city being swollen visitors, Mr Griffin said.

“That should be our normal during big events and we will work with the sector in the still play guitar but very much in the safety of my own home.

“We had a quick runthrough back stage and then I was pointed towards a Fender, a loaner, and it was time to play.”

Mr Hodgman said he needed to be firmly focused lead-up to next year’s festival,” he said.

Premier Will Hodgman, who joined the Violent Femmes on stage playing guitar, said his gig had been “great fun”.

“My performanc­e was short on the upcoming state election but might get back into the music scene “in another life”.

“Age doesn’t seem to be a barrier to live music these days,” he said.

“The Violent Femmes haven’t ruled out letting me play again.” and sweet. Sadly, I had to get up at 5am this morning so I couldn’t live the true rock ’n’ roll lifestyle.,” he said.

Mofo will return to Hobart for another week, culminatin­g in the three-day party at Mona from January 19-21.
