Political football

POKER machines have become a political football and it’s time it stopped. Wrest Point and previous government­s are responsibl­e for the installati­on of these machines and a message for the AHA is this, diversify, by making hotel and clubs viable without these parasitic machines. What’s wrong in bringing back some socially acceptable entertainm­ents. Rock bands, folk, country, rock, could fill the void in most. The Kravats band showed the way in the ’60s and ’70s that pubs and clubs could indeed be profitable. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are the days where pubs would make their money, with meals entertainm­ent and the like. If people want to gamble, Wrest Point or Country Club are still the venues for this pastime. Time to clear them out and move on.
