Gastro bug bites Lynn

- CHRISTIAN NICOLUSSI

MASTER blaster Chris Lynn was forced to briefly abandon his injury rehab this week because of a messy case of Lynnsanity in a Sydney hotel bathroom.

Lynn was struck down with a bad case of food poisoning and gastro, which became so painful he made a desperate call to the in-house doctor at 3am. Lynn did not surface until lunchtime Wednesday before he attended the Anthony Mundine fight.

He was able to resume training at the SCG before the Brisbane Heat’s nine-wicket thumping of the Sydney Sixers on Thursday night.

Apart from the 24-hour gastro, Lynn said he remained on track to return from a calf injury in eight days for the Heat’s final Big Bash game against the Renegades — then hopefully feature in Australia’s T20 series against England and New Zealand.

Selectors will name the T20 squad on Monday and Lynn is expected to be included, subject to fitness.

He was forced to pull out of the one-day series this month with medical staff suggesting at the time it would be a “three to four-week recovery’’.

Such is his shocking run of injuries, especially with his shoulders, Lynn has played just the five T20 internationals since he debuted four years ago. He can more than double that tally next month.

“I feel really good, I trained Thursday afternoon and had a good hitout and run at the SCG,’’ Lynn said.

“I was surprised, considering I was on my death bed two days ago.

“I had a bit of gastro and food poisoning, and had to get the house doctor in at 3am. It wasn’t ideal. Thankfully it was only for 24 hours.”
