What a haven for comedy fans

-

AFTER confirmation this week that Rosehaven will return for a third season, there’s more good news for fans of the Tasmanian-made ABC TV comedy, with director Shaun Wilson and actor Katie Robertson to share their tips for small-screen success in Hobart tomorrow night.

Robertson and Wilson will appear “in conversation” for Wide Angle Tasmania, discussing how they are forging their careers in Australian television, and what aspiring actors and film-makers need to do to secure work in the industry.

Wilson is a TV and commercial director who last year directed the second series of ABC TV comedy The Ex-PM and episodes of Rosehaven.

He is also co-founder of production company Sky Machine, which created awardwinning short-form ABC comedy series Noirhouse.

Robertson is best known for playing Dr Grace Howlett in Rosehaven, but has also had roles in Channel Seven’s Emmy-nominated drama Wanted and the critically acclaimed BBC/Foxtel drama series The Kettering Incident.

Last year she played the lead role in an episode of Hamish and Andy’s new Channel Nine series True Story, and landed two guest spots on ABC TV’s Get Krack!n.

“Shaun and Katie are incredibly generous and will provide audiences with a real insight to the Australian television industry — from both behind and in front of the camera,” said Wide Angle Tasmania executive director Abi Binning.

The In Conversation event will be held at Wide Angle Tasmania’s new headquarters in Washington Street, South Hobart, from 6.30pm tomorrow. Tickets are available at the door. For more information, go to www.wideangle.org.au
