Five ways to stay hot this winter

-

FIVE living legends of Australian music are teaming up to hit the road for this year’s Apia Good Times Tour.

British-born pop star Leo Sayer and ARIA Hall of Famers Brian Cadd, Marcia Hines, Russell Morris and John Paul Young will be on board when the sixth annual Apia Good Times Tour crisscrosses the country this winter, with each artist to perform a solo set of their biggest hits, before all five share the stage for a huge finale.

Grammy Award-winning Leo Sayer has sold more than 18 million albums over the past four decades, and released more than 20 top-10 singles including You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, When I Need You, Have You Ever Been in Love, Thunder In My Heart and The Show Must Go On.

Brian Cadd kicked off his career performing with two of the most celebrated bands of their day, The Groop and Axiom, releasing hits such as Woman You’re Breaking Me and A Little Ray of Sunshine. He went on to enjoy a successful solo career, before writing songs for the likes of Joe Cocker, John Farnham and The Pointer Sisters.

Marcia Hines, who is joining the Good Times lineup for the first time, has released 22 albums and countless popular singles since moving from Boston to Sydney at age 16 to star in the Australian production of Hair. In 2009 the former “Queen of Pop” received the Order of Australia for her services to the entertainment industry.

Former “King of Pop” Russell Morris was responsible for Aussie anthems such as The Real Thing and Sweet Sweet Love in the 1970s, before making a huge comeback in recent years — his records Sharkmouth (2013) and Red Dirt Red Heart (2016) both won ARIA Awards for Best Blues and Roots Album.

John Paul Young was undoubtedly one of the most popular Australian artists of the 1970s, after first starring in Jesus Christ Superstar. He sold more than four million records thanks to hits such as Yesterday’s Hero, I Hate the Music and the classic Love Is In The Air.

After 14 other concerts across the country, the 2018 Apia Good Times Tour will finish with shows at Launceston’s Princess Theatre on June 15, and at Wrest Point in Hobart the following night.

Tickets go on sale from www.theatrenorth.com.au (Launceston) and www.ticketmaster.com.au (Hobart) at 10am on Monday.
