Where to watch Hobart chase Big Bash glory

- JAMES BRESNEHAN

CAN’T make it to the Big Bash final to see the Hobart Hurricanes go for glory? Don’t worry.

Hobart fans can get their purple on at the Hurricanes’ family-friendly live sight on the lawns at Wrest Point tomorrow to watch the Big Bash showdown, which hits off at 4.30pm. The Hurricanes will face the Adelaide Strikers in Adelaide.

It is the second time in seven Big Bash seasons that Hobart has made the final, following an unsuccessful tilt in BBL03.

Cricket Tasmania chief executive Nick Cummins encourages fans to enjoy the action en masse.

“For those people who aren’t able to get to the final, it will be a chance to enjoy the game surrounded by other Hurricanes fans,” Mr Cummins said.

“Hopefully, it will build up a mini Blundstone Arena at the live sight, get their purple on and get behind the team.”

The Hurricanes crushed defending champion Perth Scorchers on Thursday night in a massive boilover.

Mr Cummins hopes for more of the same in the final.

“It was an amazing win over the Scorchers,” he said.

“We were confident going in but to win so comprehensively was a real thrill. If someone had said you’ll make 210 runs and that Tim Paine and George Bailey would score less than 20 between them – it’s hard to imagine that scenario happening against the Scorchers.

“To put those runs on the board and then to have Tom Rogers come out and bowl so well early (3-17 off his first three overs) was fantastic.”

The strategy for the final is simple.

“The same as we approached the semi-final, just keep doing what we are doing and back our guys to put runs on the board and our bowlers to defend it,” he said.
