Western bypass study

- Sue Badenach Lindisfarne A. Francis Sandy Bay Daniel Webb Moonah

WHY hasn’t the Tasmanian Liberal Government started a pre-feasibility study for a western bypass. They say it is their government that has created all the extra growth, so it must be to their credit that all the extra traffic is the result of them encouraging mainlanders to come to Tasmania to live and buy homes. I’m quite sure lots of Tasmanians would appreciate a move to at least launch a study into a bypass linking the northern suburbs and the Southern Outlet. The approach is to spend millions of dollars on ad hoc distraction from the real issue, the creation of an alternative for north and southbound traffic to have a clear run past the congestion of t Hobart. There must be tens of thousands of votes in this case, but not a whisper. it took nearly 20 years to get the Kingston bypass, how long is it going to take to get the Hobart bypass? steak bone in my throat was a tad uncomfortable and possibly life-threatening) doesn’t mean I didn’t feel sympathy for the guy who, I overheard, had been waiting 24 hours. Please keep the complimentary letters coming, they must be of some consolation to a beleaguered staff, but that does not in any way compensate for the huge hole in our hospital system.

other is expecting schools to be agents for dealing with all kinds of social problems. Buckets of money are poured in to run so many programs that information overload kicks in. Schools are there for education and not primarily to solve social problems, although they can make a contribution. Teachers are educators, not psychologists. We put too much pressure on them.
