Buckingham rout jumps Rodman to favouritis­m

GLENORCHY Rodman jumped to the top of the ladder and outright premiershi­p favouritis­m with a 39-shot demolition of Buckingham in Bowls Tasmania South Premier Division on Saturday.

Glenorchy Rodman and Rosny Park now meet next Saturday to determine who fill finish on top of the ladder and earn the right to host the second semi-final the following week.

Kingboroug­h, Sandy Bay and New Norfolk are locked in a tight battle for the final two positions in the top four. All three teams should win next week against lower-placed teams and it will come down to which two teams can take the most points will end up playing finals.

Glenorchy Rodman easily defeated Buckingham.

With Steve Clifford bowling well, Luke Turner was too strong for Ryan McCoull winning by 15 shots. With all his rink playing well, Josh Baker defeated Alvin Cooke by 14 shots.

The other rinks were much closer but still resulted in wins to Glenorchy Rodman with Cam Tegg defeating Mick Taylor by six shots and Tony Vince who was ably assisted by Paul Cruise in beating Keghan Booth by four shots.

New Norfolk’s outstandin­g season continued when it defeated Rosny Park by two shots. Mitch Banks defeated David Genford by eight shots and Barry Bone beat Mick Sweeney by eight shots. Rosny Park won on the other two rinks.

The competitio­n’s leading skip, Lee Schraner defeated Kerry Hill by four shots and Paul Williamson beat Wayne Lampkin by ten shots.

Kingboroug­h defeated Derwent City in a split-rinks decision by 30 shots.

Taelyn Male set up the win with a huge 38 shot win over John De Groot and Will Coad beat Rod Turner by three shots.

Derwent City’s Peter Bannister defeated Jason Fowler by seven shots and Grant Dudman finished four shots in front of Ben Dayton.

Brighton consigned Claremont to relegation next season when it defeated it by nine shots.

Greg Fehlberg defeated John Howard by ten shots and Grant Wakefield beat Jack Ellis by three shots.

Claremont narrowly won on the other two rinks with Craig Coad defeating Mick Daniels by two shots and Alan Smith beating Ricky Limbrick by the same margin.

In the remaining game, Sandy Bay’s one-rink win was enough to defeat Beltana.
